A History of the Memmen Apartments

Memmen Apartments 2214 2216 2218 and 2220 Florence Boulevard North Omaha Nebraska

Some of the oldest apartments left in Omaha, Nebraska are located in North Omaha. Built as high-end living and originally surrounded by families, businesses and more, they are located in an area rich with history today. This is a history of the Memmen Apartments.

The Memmen Apartments are at 2214-2220 Florence Boulevard. They were built in 1889 and listed on the he National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places in 2014. Thick classical columns raised on stone piers line the front of this building, Palladian window frames and dentil moldings mark the Memmen Apartments as a great example of the Free Classic Queen Anne style. Built in 1889, the Memmen Apartments were designed by an architect named William Elliott Findley. It was listed on the National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places in 2014 but is not designated an official Omaha Landmark.

  1. I remember these apartments, they are close to where I lived at the Sherman. When I used to walk my daughters to Conestoga Elementary, we would cut through these apartments. I did not realize these were just as old as the Sherman. Learn something new everyday.
