2024 Topics and Dates

Playing in the Parks
(January 21, 2024) North Omaha has many beautiful public parks and natural spaces for anyone to enjoy. However, few people know the histories of these places, including the people who created them, what they originally featured, and who enjoyed them. Including Miller, Dodge, Levi Carter, Adams and other popular North Omaha parks, there will be plenty of historic photos, interesting details and more!
Uncommonly Known VIPs
(April 21, 2024) Details about more than a dozen uncommonly known important people from the history of North Omaha will be explored in this presentation. Even if you do know them you might learn something new! Inventors, leaders, activists, advocates, educators, writers and others will be included in this unique exploration.

“Recognizing North Omaha’s History”
(July 21, 2024)What are the things that have been done, are being done, and can be done to save the history of North Omaha? This presentation will include past historical preservation efforts throughout the community, including the people, places and events that make North Omaha awesome. It will also feature the work of different organizations, institutions and individuals working to make a difference throughout the community right now, along with practical steps anyone can take to make a difference!
North Omaha’s Education History
(October 20, 2024) The community has been educating students publicly and privately from kindergarten through doctoral programs, with specialty degrees, workforce learning and much more for more than 150 years. This presentation highlights the schools, teachers, institutions and outcomes of all this learning and teaching in North Omaha’s past.
